Lynn Spector theatrically identifies as a dramaturg specializing in musical theatre, but has happily held many different job titles. She has served as dramaturg for new work with In Our Words, Pipeline Theatre Company, the Toronto Fringe Festival, Young Playwrights Inc., and fifteen musicals as The New York Musical Theatre Festival’s Resident Dramaturg for their Developmental Reading Series. Lynn assisted Alex Timbers on Here’s Hoover! (Les Freres Corbusier) and Permission (MCC), and co-produced workshop productions of the new musicals Madam Fury’s Traveling Show and No More Waiting. She has worked in almost all fields of theatre from management and production to technical and design including working at the Juilliard costume shop, for costume designer William Ivey Long, for director Hal Prince, and as part of magician David Blaine’s world tour. She has presented on musical theatre at the Association of Theatre in Higher Education, and has been published in the journal Studies in Musical Theatre. Lynn holds an MFA in Dramaturgy from Columbia University and a BA in Theater Arts and English & American Literature from Brandeis University.
