Producing Residents

Musical Theatre Factory is building a team of four Producing Residents who will serve as line producers and stage managers for its 2017-2018 Season Developmental Residency Series. Our residency series is the pinnacle of our programming, providing creators of new musicals with 10 days of rehearsal space, artistic and administrative support, and culminates in four public ticketed presentations. Residents will report to General Management, and will work directly with the GM’s, Director of Programming, and Resident Writers. This is a season-long commitment, although on-site responsibilities will be limited to approximately a ten day window every other month. This position provides recent graduates or young theatre makers interested in producing and/or stage management the opportunity to be a part of brand new musicals and the chance to work alongside the artists who are creating the next generation of musical theatre.

The 2017-2018 MTF season will include seven to eight Developmental Residencies of new musicals, with each residency receiving two producing residents, one to serve as producer, one as stage manager. The Residents will swap roles on each project.

Producing Residents will receive multiple opportunities to do both jobs in different combinations, allowing them to work with and learn from each other as the season progresses.

Responsibilities range from coordinating rehearsal room reservations with General Management and facilitating residency presentations to keeping track of blocking and script changes with a wide range of management responsibilities in between. MTF will offer masterclass training on producing and stage management at the top of the season to ensure consistency and provide all producing residents with base skills, setting them up for a season of success.

Producing Residents will also be offered opportunities to be hands on with other aspects of Factory Programming as interested.

MTF believes the best learning happens when people are given hands-on experience and our producing residents will be invited to be active participants in the life of the company. As part of the staff, producing residents will attend staff and production meetings as well as have the chance to learn from working professionals in their fields. In addition to receiving a stipend for the season, residents will receive complimentary admission to all Musical Theatre Factory events throughout the season.
