October 20 @ 4:00 pm - October 27 @ 6:00 pm
This season, MTF offers a working group series for anyone willing to accept accountability building towards collective liberation. Through a combination of thought exercises, and small and large group discussions, we will work in community to dismantle systems upholding racial, gender, sexuality, ability suprematism. By continually engaging in anti-bias work, MTF hopes to assist our communities in dismantling oppressive ideologies in their daily practice. The season’s first two-part session tackles recognizing and interrogating “Supremacist Structures and Power Dynamics in Musical Theatre.”
This intentional learning space seeks to avoid further harm by moving with care while maintaining rigorous discourse. Please note that this is a two part workshop on Tuesday, October 20th from 4-6pm AND Tuesday, October 27th from 4-6pm. To ensure active engagement and accountability, participants must attend BOTH paired sessions. Attendees will be provided with selected pre-session readings to prepare them for analytical discussion in both large and small group settings. We will examine existing supremacist structures within theatre and ways to subvert and eradicate them institutionally and as individuals. Together we can move musical theater toward justice and equity.
