Factory Salon

April 2, 2021 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Musical Theater Factory is thrilled to welcome you to the March virtual Salon!!!

Musical Theater Factory is thrilled to welcome you to our virtual salon hosted by Troy Anthony, with special guests You-Shin Chen and Qween Jean. During this salon we want to invite musical theater makers of excellence to present work that is dismantling oppressive ideologies towards collective liberation through powerful and joyful story in song.

During the virtual salon, we welcome artists from across the nation (and around the world) to perform their new and radical music theater work live from their homes, or to share a video of a short performance. Each artist will have about 5 minutes to share.

Qween Jean is a NY Costume Designer and Founder of Black Trans Liberation; an organization committed to creating access for the TGNC community and eradicating homelessness. Qween has committed her voice to advocating for marginalized communities; specifically black trans people. Her passion is creating access for unsung heroes and people who are often overlooked. She feels that they matter, and that their stories are valuable. Qween has an MFA in Design from NYU Tisch School of the Arts.

You-Shin Chen is a USA based Taiwanese scenic designer for performing arts. As a theatre practitioner and collaborator, she is committed to diversity and humanity. She centers humans, both the characters and the viewers, and their experiences in her process of creating a three dimensional space. You-Shin received awards from The Lilly Awards and Lucille Lortel Awards. Member of Local USA829, IASTE. www.youshinchen.com

We ask that everyone takes special care in uplifting and supporting each other. This is inclusive of only offering criticism when it is asked for and being respectful to gender identities. We seek to dismantle oppressive ideologies towards collective liberation – by participating, you agree to respect one another. In the event of unintentional harm, we support active engagement in harm reduction.

You do not have to share in order to attend. Please register to share or to participate as a supportive audience member. We can’t wait to see you there!

Please Note: “I Want to Share” tickets will close at 8pm on the Wednesday prior to the event, and “I Want to Watch” tickets will close at 6pm on the evening of the event.
