MTF’s Women/Trans/GNC Roundtable is a monthly virtual drop-in devoted to musical theater creators from marginalized genders. For our July roundtable, we’ll celebrate the incredible artistry that’s come to the fore within an otherwise insane and emotional year. Instead of our regular roundtable, we’ll instead use this space as a salon, so more folx can share! Each participant will have 5 minutes to share a song, lyric selection, scene, question, etc. There will be some room for feedback if it’s wanted, but only through comments via the chat (primarily focusing on what pops). Please sign up for the “I Want to Share” ticket if you’d like to participate in this. And of course you’re still welcome to sign up for an “I Want to Watch” ticket if you’d rather engage as a witness and audience participant.

We’ll also hold a pre-show chat from 5:30-6 focusing on the idea of solidarity and talk about how we can really work in collaboration with each other for liberation. Join us!

We recognize that participants come from different lived experiences and perspectives that come out of class, environment, race, range of neurodivergence and range of physical mobility. We strive to lift up and support all voices. In this creative circle, artists are invited to share work and receive optional feedback. We provide a SAFE SPACE for new musical development, as well as a BRAVE SPACE to continue the ongoing conversation about the artistic and professional realities of being a woman, trans, or GNC artist. Join this rotating badass community of innovative musical theater makers (and some special guests!) as we support the development of new projects, challenge each other to push ourselves and our industry, and SUBVERT THIS MF’IN DOMINANT PARADIGM.

We ask that everyone takes special care to remember that this space is specifically designed to uplift people of all marginalized genders. By participating, you’re agreeing to respect each participant’s identities fully and in the event of unintentional harm, accept corrections and actively engage in harm reduction. and accept corrections in the event of misgendering in order to do no harm, and support harm reduction.

You do not have to share in order to attend. Please register to share or to participate as a supportive community member. We can’t wait to see you there!

Please note that in order to accommodate for time, we have to limit our number of sharers beyond what we can generally accommodate at in-person roundtables. The earlier you sign up to share and the earlier you submit your materials (if you have materials to submit), the more likely you will be able to share. Everyone else who wants to share will be put on the “waitlist” and we’ll do our best to squeeze in more as time permits. Please note that this space is welcome to and curated by people who identify as women, trans, or non-binary.

“I Want to Share” tickets will close 48 hours before, Saturday at 6pm. Since space is limited, we will contact you via email 24 hours prior to the roundtable to let you know if you’re on the list to share or if you’re on the waitlist.

“I Want to Watch” tickets will close an hour before the event on Monday at 5pm.
